It reviews existing international standards and accountability mechanisms, highlighting their potential but also their limitations such as weak enforcement and voluntary compliance. The note ultimately argues that while these frameworks provide an important starting point, stronger alignment with national and regional policies, alongside increased civil society advocacy and participation, is essential to ensure accountability, equitable benefit-sharing, and sustainable socioeconomic development within transition mineral value chains.
