Community Benefit Sharing Agreement Note

The note is designed as an advocacy tool to support civil society organisations (CSOs) working with communities affected by energy projects in Kenya, strengthening their capacity to engage in and negotiate project outcomes. It explains the foundations of Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs) and Community Trusts, and provides practical guidance on promoting meaningful participation, equitable representation, inclusion, and sustainable local benefits. In addition, the note serves as a policy advocacy resource for CSOs to engage county governments, regulators, and development partners in advancing more inclusive energy transitions.
