New study charts a path for civil society to shape Africa’s power pools

LETA Team

A new study commissioned by LETA maps how civil society organisations can engage more effectively in the governance of Africa’s power pools. Drawing on international examples of regional transmission organisations, the study sets out good practices in transparency and public participation and offers practical recommendations for CSOs seeking to influence market rules and policy.

As cross-border electricity trading expands, the study argues that inclusive, accountable power-pool governance will be central to integrating renewable energy at a regional scale.
